Why the Dental Field needs Chiropractors

Fishers Chiropractor offers Relief to Dental Profession

Earlier this week I went to my routine dental appointment. As we got going a conversation started with the hygienist about her constant neck and upper-back aches, and this is very common in the dental field.

Although it is common, it is not NORMAL!

The reality of the dental professions is that the abnormal and awkward positions and tasks performed at work add up. It’s different than a whiplash or acute trauma, but the chronic nature of work stress has a damaging effect on the spine.

With all the forward neck bending, constantly placing yourself in this position places significant stress on the neck and back.

With continuous forward neck bending, constantly placing yourself in this position places significant stress on the neck and back.

I see this in test results too – for patients in these work environments, it’s across the board where x-rays show flattened necks from the side-view, major alignment shifts on multiple views, and it is very common that the patients feel like they are breaking down.

How can Chiropractic Care Help?

Through chiropractic care, we are able to take the areas where damage has built into the spine and work towards healing those specific parts of the spine. Home exercises can be recommended to unwind the stress from a long work day. Workstation setup advice can be provided to minimize the stress throughout the day.

By taking each individual and working towards their needs, we are able to see drastic improvements in the way patients feel and function.

If you are in the dental profession and live or work in the Fishers or north Indianapolis area, call the office to schedule an appointment. Your first visit will allow us to find how to help you achieve your highest level of health, so you can continue to assist others in your form of healthcare.
