Why Does This Always Happen to Me???

Back in high school, I remember getting a big kick out of a Weird Al song called “Why Does This Always Happen to me?”. It originally got on my radar because of a guest appearance by the pianist Ben Folds, but I also found the lyrics hilarious! For example, in one verse he talks about how he was watching TV and they interrupted with a breaking news story about a devastating earthquake. His response…”why’d they have to interrupt The Simpsons? I was taping it and everything! Why does this always happen to me?!?”

 It’s easy to find the humor with that small inconvenience compared to a devastating tragedy…but I think it applies to a lot of us in the present day, myself included. It’s easy to say “I don’t like that we have to shut down the economy. I don’t like that we can’t dine in restaurants. I

In the grand scheme of things, being in our shoes is a lot better than a lot of people around the world. We’re in our great country; as a country we’re handling the illness better than a lot of European countries; it’s looking like this will be a short-term issue in the grand scheme of our timelines; and this pandemic is hitting in an era where we have technology to keep us informed and entertained! Imagine if we had this outbreak 50 years ago, we would be much worse off!
