Results May Take Longer Than Expected

“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” – Dale Carnegie

One of the things that can discourage patients pretty quickly is a lack of immediate relief from the adjustment. Whether we don’t get the immediate “pop” sound effect that the patient is craving, if the pain is just as intense after some time of care, or if they aren’t performing as well as they would like in a certain part of their life, it makes sense. In coming to the chiropractor, you guys trust me for getting results. When those results seem to be lacking, you might question whether or not coming in is worth it.

The thing is, though, results can vary and develop over different timelines for different people. Yes, it’s a blast for everyone involved for someone to feel a lot better with one adjustment. But I’ve also worked with people that get relief in a steady-progressing rehabilitation process.

A lot of times, if the stress and muscle tension has built up over a long time, it can take a while to make some headway. In fact, some of the first adjustments can be like hitting up against a brick wall over and over. Eventually things can start to loosen up though, and we really start cooking with gas (not literally)!

At a certain point, we definitely want to re-assess to make sure we’re on the right track. But for those individuals who have recently started care and the results are coming along slowly, I ask that you please be patient. Don’t give up hope. As our buddy Dale says, you may just be able to accomplish great results if you just show more patience.
