Repetition, Repetition, Repetition

This morning, my running coach had me do one of my least favorite types of workouts: hill sprint repeats. Number one, I hate sprinting. Number two, with how Indianapolis is so flat, it can be tough to find the right size of hill to get the job done. So, I had to drive over to Hazel Dell Road in Carmel, and the hill I spent about a half hour on was at Hazel Dell and Main Street.

It just so happened that there was a cop monitoring that intersection that I bet was getting a kick out of me going back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. Heck, hardly any cars drove by during that time, so maybe it even gave him a way to keep from zoning out!

It wouldn’t have been nearly as amusing for the cop, and I wouldn’t have gotten nearly as much out of the workout, if my coach had told me to just go up the hill once then stop. It takes multiple efforts to get the muscle memory to set in and lead to better running on race day.

Similarly for all of you, if you have health goals it’s important to do things well consistently over time.  It can take weeks and months of diet and exercise to hit a fitness goal, and for many people chiropractic rehab can take multiple treatments over time to get a long-term fix.

I doubt there will be a cop watching you was you do those things over and over, but hey, you can imagine!!
