An Ounce of Prevention

Something that’s an unspoken elephant in the room, as far as a lot of people’s thoughts about chiropractic care, is that “once they start going, they have to go forever”. I get it – if someone has back pain, they want to just make it so the back pain’s gone, then carry on with their life.

If that’s all someone wants to use chiropractic care for, have at it, I’ll be happy to provide that sort of care for you. But part of my role as a healthcare provider is to allow patients the opportunity to make the best choices for their health, given their life situations.

That’s why I often do promote ongoing prevention an maintenance care, beyond pain relief. From my experience, people usually experience the best results when we stay ahead of issues and be proactive in preventing them. But research has also recently come out that when people use chiropractic care with ongoing maintenance, they average almost 13 fewer days of bothersome back pain.

Back pain is one of the most common causes of work absences. If you’re afraid of being “stuck” in chiropractic care and you’re wanting to save money, you may want to consider it as an investment to allow you to be fully attending work. No pressure to do so, but if you do, there’s a good chance your body will thank you!
